I have talked about film clips that would never see the light of day and, well, here is a still from one of them. After producing the official Van on 66 intro video and getting alll my things together, I hit the road and made this location near Oklahoma City my first video project from the road. Unfortunately, there were problems with this taping, part of that infamous learning curve you know, and because of them, meaning the sound, this video clip will remain as a personal treasured archive.
I do have to say that I was disappointed that this video shoot did not work out as I wanted with all my heart for this video to be the first official Van on 66 video for a very special reason. 40 years earlier, while attanding a small college not too far from this spot I had my first encounter with both Route 66 and, unknownst to me at the time, my future. On a cool crisp fall day I stopped at this intersection on a bicycle ride and wondered just what this road was that took off to my right (my left in this photograph). While I did not say it outloud, I can remember my thoughts at the moment as clear as day and it was formed with these words. "There is something really special about this road." There is a lot to be said about looking back. And right now, all those years later I find myself doing just that as I contemplate the future for Van on 66. And while I do not know exactly what that means for me, I do know that God has a plan that I do not see.
I hope that everyone is doing well! "Remember the former things, those of long ago." - Isaiah 46:9
