This quote has resonated with me a lot recently.
A (long-winded) back story... In 2017, I decided to move to London; a city I’d never visited before. A city where I knew no one, I was unemployed for the first time ever in my adult life and I had no idea where I was going to live.
I still remember that gut wrenching feeling of uncertainty & fear as I was living in a hostel with money running low & no job prospect on the horizon. See, I’m hopeless with self-assurance at the best of times & there is no rule book on how to move to a foreign city on the complete other side of the world. But yet there I was trying my best.
I figured if I were potentially going to spend the next two years living in this city I needed to start discovering it. So naturally as any tourist would, I hit the markets & ended up at Portobello Road where I came across @maythethoughtsbewithyou
I was looking through her incredible talent & picked up this print which hit home a thousand times over. And yes, I started crying. But it was comforting for me to read that, at that exact moment. Whether you believe in those things or not.
Fast forward almost 3 years, I’m back living in Melbourne and made the decision at the start of this year to start my own freelancing business & to be honest, what a bloody hard time it’s been. But! That print now sits on my desk to remind me everyday that even though these past few weeks have been hard, as I’m sure many other freelancers out there can relate in the presence of this pandemic, we will get through this together ♡
Super sorry for the long note, I hope these words can help someone today. X •
